Epicure of the Year

On Thursday April 27, the Épicures de l'Année 2023 jury met at the Hôtel Fauchon Paris to deliberate. Chaired by André Terrail - president of the jury and owner of La Tour d'Argent in Paris - the debate was both passionate and fascinating.

More than 70 professionals had registered to take part in this award, which is gaining in recognition and candidates every year. The quality of the jury, made up of undisputed personalities in their respective fields, as well as the quality of the entries, meant that the judges had to argue convincingly in defense of their favorite candidates... With particularly close discussions for the top category of this Prize, which rewards the Fine Grocery of the Year and this year brought together some twenty entries of an excellent standard. Some fifteen professionals chose to apply in the Mixed category, which is aimed at shops where the delicatessen is complemented by one or more activities, from small-scale catering to cellars or cheese-making, for example. Once again, we saw a rise in the range of entries, with one duo standing out: cavistes épiciers fines. As for foreign delicatessens, the entries were again dominated by Italy. There were also excellent entries in the Concept category, for eco-responsible stores and for e-commerce sites. The prize list is embargoed until Sunday June 4.

Chaired by André Terrail, owner of La Tour d'Argent (Paris), our jury is made up of Samy Vischel (Chairman and CEO, Fauchon), Laurent Trégaro (Purchasing Manager, La Grande Épicerie de Paris), Alessandra Pierini (Italy specialist, columnist on France Inter and author), Pascal Mièvre (founder and manager, Épicerie Fine Rive Gauche), Alexis Roux de Bézieux (President of the Fédération des Épiciers de France and founder and CEO of Causses), Florent Simonneau (Sales and Marketing Director Chronofresh Delifresh), Marie-Edith Lecoq, (CEO Le Monde de l'Épicerie Fine) and Bruno Lecoq, (Editorial Director Le Monde de l'Épicerie Fine).
